According to the report from the Communications and International Affairs Department of the Arak Metropolis Municipality, Abdollahi Far, the Deputy of Urban Services of the Arak Metropolis Municipality, explained the actions of this organization to combat water stress in the city, stating: Water stress occurs when water consumption exceeds the available resources, and in a city like Arak, which has more limited resources, this issue has become a serious challenge. He added: In this context and to optimize water consumption, two wells and 455 irrigation branches for green spaces were transferred to the Water Organization; an action that forced the municipality to manage water consumption with more precision and rigor. The Deputy of Urban Services explained: In the past six months, about 70 hectares of green space have been irrigated with a drip irrigation system, significantly reducing water consumption. According to him, implementing a dry landscape model in 20 hectares of green space and removing grass in 10 hectares and replacing it with drought-resistant plants have also been other important actions in reducing water consumption. Abdollahi Far pointed out that combating water stress is not possible solely by reducing consumption, and alternative resources must also be utilized, referring to the important project of wastewater transfer for irrigating green spaces. According to him, the wastewater transfer lines have been designed and implemented in two phases: Phase one has been fully executed and put into operation from the treatment plant to Shahid Bahonar Forest Park and the Zoo. Phase two is currently being executed from the treatment plant to the Sibak Pass via the northern bypass with a contract signed with the 42nd Qadr Headquarters and will be completed by the end of this year and next year. The output capacity of each line is 250 liters per second, which provides a total of 500 liters per second of treated wastewater for green spaces. These lines cover a large part of the city's green space and will fundamentally reduce the need for drinking water or wells. He emphasized: Using wastewater for irrigating green spaces is one of our most important tools for combating water stress. With the completion of these two phases, a large part of the water needs of green spaces will be met without using groundwater or drinking water resources. These actions are part of the comprehensive program of the Arak Municipality for water crisis management, adaptation to climate change, and protection of the city's valuable water resources.
